Holiday Marketing Strategy

Hey everybody! This week it’s me, Molly, with a solocast digging into holiday marketing strategy. I had a little too much fun with my acronym and hope it gets you the giggles AS WELL AS serious results!

I’m calling this my HO, HO, HO Holiday Marketing Strategy:

  • Harness your energy and Own your strengths
  • Hoard content and Organize it
  • Humanize marketing and Outline your plans

Get a notebook, pen, a few blank calendars, and let’s meet the HOs!

Harness your energy

Before we get too far on the note taking, I want you to take at least one of these three personality assessments. It’s so important to connect with who you are as a person and consider how that affects your approach to business.

Own your strengths

Consider what you love about your work- that part of the day when you can get lost in a good flow. Do more of that. And if there’s something you hate? Look into outsourcing. Someone else loves doing that thing. Some things can get omitted all together.

Hoard Content

My social clients and I went back through our posts from last year at this time. We considered: What went well? How could this be repurposed or reused? There’s no reason to start from scratch or reinvent the wheel. I love my professional portraits, but my best performing content was when I showed up in the throws of holiday planning with my family. Just me, unprepared and spontaneous. And that content was so fun to make!

Organize

Now it’s time for that blank calendar. Keep priorities the priority and organize other things around it. For the next few months, map out what roll outs, offers, and events you have. Plug in some of the content you hoarded above. Then consider: What do you have time for? How many posts? What long form content can drive your social media posts?

Humanize

This is literally a post about strategy, but at the end of the day it’s always about the people. How can you show up as a human on social media? Do things that feel good.

Outline

Start with the content you already have and fill in gaps with new content. Have a few solid anchors in place means you can have more fun and spontaneity in between.

So there you have the three HOs of HOliday marketing! I hope you had as much fun with this episode as I did!
