As an entrepreneur, I’ve often believed I could do it all on my own.
I told myself I was independent, driven, and capable—and while all of that is true, I learned the hard way that success is never a solo journey.
No matter how strong we are, we need a community to support, challenge, and uplift us.

Why We Struggle to Ask for Help
For many women in business, asking for help can feel uncomfortable. We worry about being a burden. We think, I should be able to figure this out. But the truth? Isolation leads to burnout. And burnout doesn’t serve anyone.
I first realized the power of community when I joined EmpowerHer for a vision-boarding session in Janene King’s kitchen. From that moment on, I saw firsthand how being in the right rooms could change everything. I learned just as much from small, intimate groups as I did from large, national masterminds.
How to Find (and Build) Your Community
1. Get in the Room
You can’t build connections if you don’t show up. Find groups, masterminds, or mentorship programs that align with your values, not just ones that look impressive on paper.
2. Make the First Move
Friendship and community don’t happen by accident. DM that person you admire, ask someone to coffee, or start an accountability group. If the space you need doesn’t exist, create it.
3. Balance Similarity & Difference
Yes, you need people who understand your journey. But you also need voices that challenge you, introduce new ideas, and help you grow.
4. Let Go of the “I Can Do It All By Myself” Mentality
Success isn’t about doing it all. It’s about knowing who to call when you need support. Whether it’s building a team or leaning on a mentor, it’s okay to ask for help.
My Personal Journey
Over the years, I’ve leaned on communities like EmpowerHer, private masterminds, and my work with The Restoration Project team. I’ve intentionally built relationships that challenge and change me, rather than just validate me. And I’ve learned that the best way to show up in these spaces is not to be the person with all the answers, but to be the one who’s curious and ready to learn.
Final Thought
If you’re feeling isolated, take this as your sign: It’s time to find your people. Whether it’s a structured mastermind or a casual group of business besties, having a strong support system will help you grow in ways you never imagined.
