Everyone loves a good how-to article: “Lose weight before summer with these five steps,” “Gain financial freedom with this one tip,” “Make your home look more like Joanna Gaines’ with only these five things you can buy at Target.”
Often we want a roadmap, a formula, a guarantee that if we do a, b, c then we get our desired result.
So when creating and distributing content on social media, it can be disheartening to say the least when those blog posts you crafted for hours go unread…or the post you designed without a template (yay, you!) garners 0 likes.
I’d be lying if I told you I had all the answers, but the one thing I can tell you is…you need to start with YOU. Are you showing up on you business account?
Don’t just feature your product or service. Show how you create that product, discuss the education you had to attain for this skill set, share pictures of you and your team on the job. People will connect with the people they see, they’ll stick around when you offer up valuable education or tips, and they’ll grow to be loyal when you stay consistent with your offerings.
NEXT… think about if YOU are showing up for other business’ social accounts. Are you giving them reviews, comments, and shares that you would like on your own page? If not, make it a goal to spend 20 minutes this week visiting other business accounts and giving them some likes, comments, and reviews. Not only will you be putting out good karma, but you’ll also be expanding your network and showing a little gratitude, which always feels good.
In essence, social media is all about being SOCIAL, so remember the Golden Rule the next time you are online: treat others as you wish to be treated.
