Marketing Local with Madelyn Victoria

Guys, this interview is so much fun.

Today I’m sitting down with a new friend, Madelyn Victoria a local marketing strategist in her small town in Alabama, to discuss all things marketing for local businesses. While we primarily focus on helping local businesses enhance their holiday marketing efforts this Q4 of 2024, Madelyn’s strategies and actionable tips are practices you can employ all year round to create visibility and sales for your business.

A few quick tips from Madelyn that you’ll hear us break down in detail in the podcast:

  • “Marketing is all about knowing what your audience wants and giving that to them in the best way possible.”
  • “As a brick and mortar business, you are going to want to dig deep into your community.” Double down on growing community and collaborating with other businesses to maximize your marketing and get in front of new clients and customers. Putting together gift bundles and baskets, sharing other local brick and mortar businesses you love in your Instagram stories, and partnering with the community and other businesses to host a holiday season event are great ways to bring people together. These methods connect with your ideal audience and will ultimately create awareness, brand loyalty, and sales.
  • Having limited-time products for the season is a great way to create a special feel for the holidays. For some businesses, like our friends in retail, this is part of your regular business strategy, but any business can tie in limited-time holiday opportunities. Coffee shops can create exclusive seasonal drinks, book stores can offer partnership opportunities with neighboring breakfast or lunch stops, or you can create a gift guide to help shoppers pair your products with other favorites that your audience loves.
  • “There’s a big lull [for retailers] in January and February, but what helps mitigate that is getting all peoples’ email addresses during the holiday time.” Email, email, email. Madelyn stresses that this is the time of year to add subscribers to your business’ email list so you can retarget customers all year round. Don’t know how to set up an email list or what exactly to say to them once they’re in? We dive deep on this topic within today’s episode!
  • Madelyn shares her favorite tactical tools – from the budget-friendly softwares that will get you started to the onces you can scale alongside your business as you grow. Madelyn shares all her favorite tools to help her stay organized, manage her clients’ marketing assets, and gather data to help her and her businesses make data-driven decisions going forward.
  • As we discuss in the episode, not every business owner went into this journey loving the marketing that comes along with it. If that sounds like you, just focus your efforts, choose 3 places to show up and spend your energy and your time on only those. This helps you reduce the pressure of feeling like you need to show in all the places at all the times. Choose just 3 so  you can show up well and reduce the overwhelm. Repurposing your content from other channels and platforms (like emails, newspaper interviews, blogs, or podcasts) for social media is another great way to save time and enhance visibility for your business.

Plus we go into what it’s like to live in a small town, her affinity for books (we vibed for a long time about current reads), and all the fun we can have as we market businesses. You will not want to miss this episode!

More About Madelyn

Madelyn Victoria helps small businesses create a marketing strategy to attract more clients and increase profit while making a local impact.

With seven years of experience in the digital marketing industry, Madelyn uses her knowledge and experiences to help her coaching clients take their businesses to the next level.

Ever since she was in high school, Madelyn has always had some sort of online business or side hustle, but she was still determined to start her corporate career right after graduating from college.

But things never go quite as planned.

After college graduation, Madelyn decided to work several part-time jobs over the next couple of years so she could continue to test out her “side hustle.” Eventually, her marketing business grew so much that she quit her part-time office job and went full-time as a marketing strategist. She hasn’t looked back and continues to grow, helping clients make their marketing work for them!

She’s passionate about showing businesses how to transform their customers into cheerleaders and often defines herself as an accountability partner, coach, and marketing teacher rolled into one.

Madelyn works as a small business marketing strategist in small-town Wetumpka, Alabama where she enjoys hiking, reading productivity books, and spending time with family.
